Über die Natur der Beharrlichkeit, III. Teil

Eine Betrachtung durch Gedichte, in drei (vielleicht sogar vier) Teilen. In Liebe Jona gewidmet – einer Großstadthexe mit einem noch größeren Herzen. Mögen deine Schatten Licht finden, und golden werden, my dear.

You are hurting, my dear,

I can see,

but do you wish to give up,

indefinitely?

I can see you are hurting,

I understand,

but do you truly want to give up,

in the end?

Yes! Every fucking day I want to give up!

But, my dear, consider this:

Giving up,

in the grand scheme

of things,

means

they

would win.

And you are -

along with

everything else -

petty,

and full of spite.

The saying

"I'd rather die,

then let you succeed!"

is a fallacy.

And it does not

apply to you,

my dear.

What the saying

should be,

and what

most definitely

applies to you,

you see,

is this:

"I'd rather live;

and live

and live on,

then see you

succeed.

I'd rather

out-live you,

for an eternity,

than see you

victorious

in your cruelty."

And that, my dear,

can be accomplished

on pettiness

and spite

alone.

You don't

have to be

graceful,

you don't

have to be

the bigger person,

you don't

have to

do it all

while saintly smiling,

sitting in harmony

with it all,

like a Buddha.

You can be

enlightened

and enraged;

how do you think

Buddha came about?

Promise me this, dear:

you give up,

but only after

you succeed.

And if you need

to find coping

in anger

and in rage,

in sadness -

do.

That's what

they are

meant for, too.

Find solace

in them

and

use them;

to fuel the spite,

the pettiness.

Fuel it

till it becomes

a forest fire.

And don't worry

about suffocating,

my love.

In your

smallest parts,

you are

indistinguishable

from that fire,

you

will

not

burn.
